In an effort to provide educational opportunities to all categories of people in society, Ibadan Polytechnic has launched open and flexible online distance learning. (ODFeL)
The newly invented program aims to address the frustration of millions of admission seekers, regardless of social class.
Explaining the NBTE-endorsed curriculum to reporters, the Rector of Ibadan Polytechnic, Prof. Kazeem Adebiyi said the scheme is an education program for all, regardless of individual ability.
“Some people want to go to school but don’t have the opportunity, some are working class but don’t have the time, some are physically challenged, so this program will provide opportunities for everyone.”
While promising an uninterrupted academic calendar, the rector also said that classes will be taken online but exams will be physically written.
“It will be an uninterrupted academic calendar with an immediate view of results online, the individual can study from anywhere and anytime while attending to work or family at their own pace.”
“Students will also have access to lectures and course content online but will need their physical presence for the exam”
“We have all the necessary resources in terms of technology and human resources”
While stating that prospective ODFeL students will take the Jamb exam, Prof. Adebiyi also said that Poly Ibadan ODFeL graduates will be mobilized for NYSC.
He also noted that the 2020 NBTE-approved curriculum is open for the 2022/2023 academic session, starting with six available courses, which include accounting, business administration, computer science, mass communication, l public administration and local government studies.
He said, however, that they plan to expand to other courses, which will start next term.
